Spc M G Karr Jr
On March 31, 2004, Spc Michael Gregg Karr Jr, along with four others, was killed in Habbaniyah, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device hit the armored personnel carrier they were in. The soldiers were assigned to the Army’s 1st Engineer Battalion, 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas. The five soldiers killed were Lieutenant Doyle Hufstedler, Specialist Sean Mitchell, Specialist Michael Karr Jr., Private First Class Cleston Raney and Private Brandon Davis.
They fought together, they died together and all five were buried together at Arlington National Cemetery. They were the 69th, 70th, 71st, 72nd and 73rd casualties of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
